The Perpetual Woman

The Perpetual Woman:

Man ....... Man devised me for one purpose and one purpose only. To live on when the human race is ends. I have been alive for 1000 years and have aged none at all. The planet earth is now an apocalyptic wasteland. I stood and watched mankind rip each other to bits. watching brothers turn on each other.....people killing children......creating new ways to over power their enemies at the press of a button. Before i was created, i was a regular woman with a job and family. Until one day i witnessed a break in at my house. Two gentlemen in masks with loaded weapons obliterate my family. As i saw my children's carcasses on the floor with their blood splattered on my face, i became devastated. then before i knew it.... i too was laying on the floor next to my family. next thing i know i am awake. my organs torn out and replaced with artificial ones. I could hear only ticking and turning of the gears that turned in me. I was told my purpose, but in the devastation i fled .....far away. days, months, years, and centuries pass. My friends have aged and died old. I roamed the earth forever alone.I have acquired great knowledge over the years and studied many works of philosophers and poets. Every day i felt more machine than human. The date is December,25,3055. I spend Christmas alone with the ashes of severed remains
of what used to be the place i was born. Man has declared nuclear war upon itself.
the date is May,12 , 3059. I watch the nuclear war heads descend upon the ground and annihilate all in its path. The date is November, 15, 3070. There is no trace of life anywhere. I am alone. I celebrate my 1000th birthday on earth. I figure it will take another 400 years for the sun to die out and then ....finally ending my life. Everyday i yearn for such a thing. but until then.............I.........I remain Perpetual.
